A barber had to call the police after an allegedly drunk and sleep-deprived customer nodded off just two minutes into a haircut and refused to wake up.
Shouting and slapping were apparently not enough to wake up the dozing customer, who paramedics even suspected had internal bleeding in his brain.
The bizarre incident occurred in the city of Shijiazhuang, capital of North China’s Hebei Province, where the unnamed client had gone for a haircut.
According to the stunned barber, who was seen holding his customer’s head up throughout the ordeal, the customer was talking normally before suddenly falling asleep - even to the point of snoring.
The barber said: "We were chatting and then I took him to wash his hair, and he fell asleep as soon as we sat back on the chair."
Two police officers were called to the hairdressers to try and wake the man, but the customer continued to snooze despite being slapped gently on the face and having a wet towel run over his forehead.
The authorities suspected the man of being drunk, but there was genuine concern for his life after he could not be woken - despite his seemingly comfortable state.
Paramedics who arrived at the barbershop said they feared the man could have a cerebral haemorrhage, which may explain his unresponsive state.
But after being taken to hospital and undergoing a series of tests, doctors found nothing wrong with the patient - he was simply asleep.
