Two Muslim teenagers were viciously beaten by a thug outside their mosque by an attacker who allegedly shouted "you f***ing terrorist".
Police in New York are investigating the shocking incident over the weekend which was partly captured on CCTV.
Mohamed Bahe, director of the mosque, told Buzzfeed News the dispute began when the two boys approached a man acting "suspiciously" in a car near a side entrance.
He was with a woman and the boys were concerned for her welfare.
A second man then suddenly ran from across the street and punched one of them, Mr Bahe said.
Surveillance cameras from the mosque show the victim being kicked and punched repeatedly on the ground.
The second boy initially ran off but then came back to try and help his friend and was also punched.
He said the attacker shouted "you f***ing terrorist".
Other members of the mosque then heard the commotion and chased the man away.
Muslims Giving Back, a non-profit charity based in the Brooklyn area of the city, described the attack as a "hate crime" and posted images on Facebook of the victims left dazed and bloodied in the street.
