Safety Inspector Who Cleared the Ill-fated Tsunami Rollercoaster Banned

A safety inspector at M&D theme park has been banned after he gave the Tsunami rollercoaster ride a clean bill of health 16 days before it crashed.

As a fallout from that, Fairground owners have now been ordered to check all rides with safety certificates issued by Craig Boswell.

The Health and Safety Executive found “significant issues” with the “condition of the mechanical and structural parts of the Tsunami”.

They said they had “serious concerns” about the maintenance of the Tsunami and other rides at the M&D’s theme park near Motherwell.

Their investigation continues, reports the Daily Record.
Ten people were injured on June 26 when five carriages on the Tsunami derailed at up to 40mph.

Wreckage and victims crashed to the ground. Three children were seriously hurt and bystanders tried to free kids trapped.

One victim said: “I honestly thought I was going to die.”
