Five people, including three young children, have been killed in an accident in Colorado, when an Amtrak train collided with their van.
The Colorado State Patrol said a 2005 Chrysler Town & Country failed to give right of way to the train as was hit just outside Trinidad.
The driver of the van and three of the six passengers inside died at the scene.
A fifth passenger was taken to a hospital and later declared dead.
Denver7 TV said that a little girl in the van survived the crash and was flown to the Children's Hospital in Aurora, Colorado, with serious injuries.
The identities of those killed have not been released.
A spokeswoman for Amtrak said more than 280 passengers were on board the train at the time of the crash. No one on the train was injured.
